Yes, it's true! All you have to do is login to your Xbox Live account on the xbox.com website and click your name or gamer picture to show your profile page. Now right click the picture of your avatar and choose Save Image to get a PNG (Portable Network Graphic) format image with transparency, this is great as there is no background colour or any unwanted objects interfering with your avatar and because the image is stored as a PNG, it is of good quality.
